when in reality they are the least common, performed only in hospitals, and used in case of emergency, death of a fetus, or extreme birth defect.

and i’m so mad that i live in a country that has no problem convincing people that my body is not my own, and that if pregnant, i will choose trauma, self-injury, a hospital stay and life-long stigma over childbirth. heh.

Get these throngs of fundamentalist zealots as your mindless voting base. It’s a group of Pavlovian dogs trained to support sewage like “God hates the gays” and “Think of the unborn babies” etc. mixed in with the large scale pro-corporate/anti-consumer/anti-worker/anti-liberty values. They’re all balled together in their vomitous spew of hate, ignorance, greed and skulduggery (that means butt rape, right?). The institution shirks welfare if it doesn’t come from the church, and isn’t for the zombies of the church (yeah, I used the zed word). The institution shrugs off environmental issues because, in their view, the Rapture is coming anyway, so why not have the biggest SUV, the biggest plywood mansion, and the most individually packaged snack foods that you can to bring on The Glory of The Lord as quick as possible. I could rant on like this for hours.

The long and short of it is, the Christian Fundamentalists of this country are a death cult that is taking the rest of the world to that great big mother ship in the sky with it.

The central idea of Christian Dominionism is to return all social services to the control of the church. If the poor need help, the church will assist–but you must repent your sins and accept christ in your life. That is the ultimate in saving a person in need.

This is why Bush’s faith based inititives have given overwhelmingly to christian organizations. I’m not saying they have given exclusively, just overwhelmingly. Ultimately, they would starve the current secular social welfare system into non exsistence and transfer the burden on to mega churches and christian orgs–Which also happen to be *ahem* Tax free.

It’s important to note, though that not all Christians share this world view. There are plenty out there that reject it outright in favor of simple good deeds without reciprocation. The scary part is that the people who do believe in dominionism are plentyful and hold a lot of influential offices in the current administration.
