Holy Buck, Fatman!

I was, until recently an independent since I first signed up to vote at age 18. This year was the first year I decided to affiliate myself the Democratic Party.I’m starting to believe that I may have made the wrong decision.

I remember my excitement to be able to participate in the 1992 general election and how proud I was to have that right. I was sure that now I could voice my opinions loudly by pulling the lever. I had faith in American democracy. I knew how important my participation was.

I know now that is no longer the case. I have lost my faith in the system.

It is plainly clear that you no longer represent the views of the majority of the registered democrats. Many of us feel that the most important issue facing us is getting our troops home with their families. It’s despicable that you can’t even garner enough votes to support longer rest time between deployments. It is a slap in the face of our men and women in the military, some who haven’t even seen their families in nearly two years, that you can’t get it together and fight the GOP strong hold.

If that wasn’t disappointing enough, you silly Dems decided to debate and pass a resolution condemning an ad placed by MoveOn.org. I mean….WTF? Did you think this was necessary when the “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth” spread lies about Sen. John Kerry, a decorated war hero? Or what about the nasty ad run about amputee and war hero Max Clealand? The Attack ads morphed his face into Osama Bin Ladens! I guess that simply wasn’t offensive enough to pass a resolution.

Since we elected you to office, you have failed to deliever anything of substance. Your overwhelming willingness to roll over as soon as some republican gets angry of upset is terrible. Your detachment from the very people who had faith that real change could occur is deplorable. In case you have forgotten, MoveOn.org mobilized many voters in 2006 to get YOU INTO OFFICE. Instead of worrying about how to gain more support for Senator Webb’s bill to provide more rest to the troops, you are too busy whining about an ad.

I supported the Democrats through the dark six years of Emperor Brush Clearer’s dictatorship. II’m watching  as this once great country implodes upon itself while  our elected officials are  unwilling  to stop the implosion. I wonder what  future my child faces. I only hope she will still be able to speak her mind without being labeled a “left-wing activist”  or worse, “Enemy Combatant” because she has a  real need to fight for what is right.

The fundamentals of government have been lost to you, silly Democrats. I know that all the letters I send, E mails I shoot off and phone calls I make will never make a difference to you or your handlers unless I write a check for no less then $1,000 to a fund raiser. Maryland’s own Steny Hoyer even says so.

Shame on you. Shame on you for lying to us; telling us that you would be carrying out the will of the people. Shame on you for not standing up to the GOP Bullies. Shame on you for not listening to the people who put you in office.
