Holy Buck, Fatman!

This weekend is the 40th Annual Fells Point Fun Festival. I view this as somewhat of the unofficial beginning to the holiday season around our neighborhood. Sure, retail outlest often want to shove christmas down your throat in August now but seriously…after the festival, it’s nothing but cool neighborhood happenings, parties, tours and fun stuff all around.

For any of you non Baltimore readers stopping by my Blog, Fells Point is an old hood steeped in history. It has the Oldest bar in America, The Horse you Came in on. Edgar Allen Poe used to get drunk there. Coincidentally, he died up the street from my house.  It’s reported to be the most haunted hood in Baltimore. When the Fun festival comes around, you either do one of two things: You leave town that weekend or you PARK YOUR CAR, DO NOT MOVE and enjoy the fun. We are part of the “DO NOT LEAVE”crowd.

The great thing about the festival is the beer garden. It often has a stage featuring several bands and a beer sponsor that serves up some decent micro brews. Except THIS YEAR–we may have been highjacked by the mullet crowd. Take a gander at the band listings Not only is the beer garden being sponsored by 98 rock (the local and still not owned by clear channel) mullet radio station.

Tribute bands? Are they fucking serious?

Tribute bands. An asston. Everything from the White Stripes to Guns N’ Roses. Uhg.

Tribute bands and Budwiser. I feel like the beer garden has been hijacked by a bunch of ironic hipsters celebrating the irony of Budwiser and tribute bands. However, I doubt there is a cock rock theme here, simply because of the Linkin Park tribute band and the Sublime tribute band.

One thing is for sure. If they insist on selling me the redneck martini, I flat out refuse to pay no more then 3$ for a Budwiser. and THAT IS PUSHING IT.
