Brilliant post! *applause* *applause* I hate MM like poison.

"Nothing moral or compassionate when you take money out of one man's wallet and place it in another"

Ever heard of Medicare? Medicaid? Some of the extended beneficiaries of Social Security? Any of your elderly family members partaking in these programs? Because I want them out of my "wallet" immediately, as I'm not feeling particularly moral or compassionate toward these people I don't even know. Everyone for themselves, you know. No helping hands for those you personally judge to be undeserving, situational realities be damned!

The Government takes money out of everyone's wallet and places it into the bank accounts of seriously rich investment firms that lost on nasty speculations over subprime mortgage hedge funds. Doesn't matter that all these rich guys tried to make a quick buck over easy credit offered to people who honestly shouldn't have been granted that---fuck 'em they lose for being "stupid" to think they could own a home in an "ownership society".

Tell me...what is the difference between offering healthcare to the working poor or bailing out a really stupid investment firm? There is nothing moral or compassionate about helping a company who speculated on investments knowing that all investments carry some kind of risk.

"$55,000 a year with six children is nearly impossible these days. I tried to make it on that with ONE child."

"The truth is this: NO ONE WANTS TO REMAIN POOR!"

And a working Joe making $30,000/year doesn't want surrender his wages to the government so that you can claw your way out of "poverty".

You mentioned energy, health care (corporate, aka Big Pharma and research) and business as culprits. I wonder what kind of help THEY get from the government...
