I hearted Gerry (thanks for the spelling hint, BTW) He was AWESOME on so many levels. His rants were so cool---especially how his voice got progressively louder and louder.

Anyhow, yes---you are correct in your assesment that WYPR is only panderign to the whims of the wealthy 'burbs. Baltimore residents will have to find alternative ways to convey local information and discuss it. I suspect it will be where it has always been, at the local bar.

I kinda liked Gerry from Pikesville (and I'm pretty sure he was a 'G'erry and not a 'J'erry) and I liked that Marc was a little more open with his guests, not as controlled as, say Diane Rehm. Like, he sometimes let the people get a little carried away. Anyway, yep, it was infuriating to hear that N.Y. city show in the Marc Steiner time-slot. Honestly, I think Tony et al, were fully expecting a firestorm and are planning to ride it out. They've stolen the station so it can broadcast bland, corporate-friendly pablum to the wealthy suburbs. They don't care if a whole lot of listeners demonstrate outside their offices, write letters and emails, make phone calls, and, ultimately, stop listening. We're not the listeners they want.
