Back from what was a sort of Vacay, but didn’t really feel like it…
While I was away, a lot of stuff happened. First, the good stuff: Obama’s acceptance speech was awesome, hands down. It’s so refreshing to listen to a candidate that can actually form sentences. It’s just lovely.
Seems that NOLA was spared the worst of Gustav. Horray! I’ll eventually make it to NOLA, someday…
Now for the bad news.
Sarah…um…who? Apparently the no longer than a year and a half into a governorship of the great state of Alaska, McCain picks a lady whom has less experience than his counterpart, Obama, and is literally a nice wet lickery kiss to the ultra evangelical wingnuts. My fav is that McCain’s Campaign thinks that if he chooses a woman, My vagina sensor will go into overdrive, thus forcing me to abandon my morals and sincere beliefs and vote for Palin because, well..She *IS* a woman. I mean…See?!!??!?! Look at what some of the Right pundits believe of liberal women:
The calculation on the part of the McCain people is clear. Palin’s candidacy could draw some of the 18-million Hillary Clinton voters who are not happy she lost and who want to vote for a woman on a national ticket.
I think this pundit underestimates millions of Hillary Supporters. We don’t “vagina vote”. We vote because our views are inline with the canidate’s views. It’s funny because Palin is the EXACT OPPOSITE of most Clinton supporters own personal views.
McCain’s choice for Palin is a real look at the “It’s Okay If Your Republican” mindset. Hypocrasy is rampant! Let’s outline some of the best examples of IOKIYR:
Abstinence Only education isn’t really a failure if your rich and white! All families go through these things. It’s, well…Normal.
Being a working Mom is GREAT! See? Evangelical Conservatives can be feminists, TOO! Just ignore all the stuff that Dr. James Dobson , the Southern Baptists Convention and Bush preach.
Earmarks are BAD! Except when they’re good.
Ethics?! I know we all need to engage in ethical behavior. It’s not unethical if we are furthering our god given right to be rich, save face or help our friends and family.
When you choose life, only then is it a choice! Silly Liberals, didn’t you know that?

There’s nothing wrong with being rich. What defines rich anyway? Perhaps you are rich compared to me. Should you then have to give me enough to equal your wealth and so on? How did that work for the USSR? (If you have an old globe, you can see the landmass they used to cover).
Quoting a few people such as Dobson and Southern Baptists is like saying PETA speaks for the Democrats. This is hyperbole of the tallest order. What about Obama’s terrorist friend? Perhaps his racist pastor for 20 years shoud be called into question? Maybe he needs to go Clinton and have the people mysteriously die or disappear before more comes out… But, you and your ilk will still mindlessly vote democrat year after year. Marion Barry - he’s a great leader, pull the lever. O’Malley - can’t run a city, let’s give him the state.
Don’t get me started on the right to choose. Chinese culture says infanticide is okay if you want to kill girls to have boys. Should we do that too? If a baby cries too much, why not kill it? When do you define life then? If a woman can choose, then a man should be able to as well. He should be able to plop down $300 and say get it taken care of” and the man won’t have to pay child support if she doesn’t. That’s her choice at that point, right? Be careful where you tread here. Also, why is it okay to kill a fetus, but it’s wrong to kill a murderer? How about save both or kill both. At least the Right only kills those who committed a wrong.
McCain isn’t courting leftist people who are corrupted by this Obama cult of huge impossible promises. I will buy you a yacht, a mansion, and a Bentley. That’s as true as balancing the budget, fixing heatlhcare, reducing taxes for all but those rich (how is that defined again?), no dependency on foreign oil, curing cancer, ending sunburns… Wow - Obama is the second coming. You already made up your mind - that’s the defintion of the liberal mantra of being closed minded. If he picked somebody else, would your view change? No - then stop writing things like you did. It shows you have issues with critical thinking or perhaps understanding the issues at hand. That would explain why you like a candidate who promises all and has delivered nothing.
BTW - Out of all of them, Palin is the only one with real experience. Being a senator (Obama, Biden, and yes McCain) is not good preparation for president. Look up how many prez’s have been senators - it’s a small number. Because up until now, you had to know how to build a budget, execute the laws (that’s why it’s called executive - I’m sure you love O’Malley and he hasn’t figured this out yet), appoint judges, etc. So what if it’s 2 years, it’s still more than the rest.

One other major thing that was glossed over last week… Who’s got a lower approval rating than GW? Oh - it’s the Democrat led Congress. Why don’t you rant about how Pelosi can’t lead or do anything but blink mindlessly? Perhaps the Harry Reid can talk about all he’s done to help the military or fixed other ailments of the country. Oh - they didn’t. It’s lipservice.
